    Question

    Hi Everyone,

I was looking at a website that offered accesories for camcorders (ugh!) and came across filters available for them. In particular I was interested in the 81A "warm" filter which is orange tinted and is supposed to give the effect of warm evening sunlight, this seemed particulary useful for sunny days with excessive cloud cover on the horizon. Would this work with super 8?. On days with very bright sunlight what sort of effect would this have, has anyone tried it?

Another filter I spotted was the 82A "morning and evening" filter, can anyone tell me anymore about this?

The filters would do to Super8 exactly what they say they would do to the camcorder. In fact, using a camcorder with manual white balance is a pretty good way to experiment with filters before committing them to film. Lock the camera in its "daylight" mode and then test the effect of the filters outside, and you'll have a good idea of the effect it'll have on the image. You can also go to tiffen.com and see a lot of before & after pictures.
